That would be so-called cancel culture, a slippery term that covers a lot of ground, from J.K. Rowling to academic groupthink to the tragic saga of Colin Kaepernick. Maher can’t stop himself from rising to the defense of male celebrities whose punishments, in his eyes, exceeded their crime.
