The 2023 movie saw Gosling's Ken joined by a variety of others in Barbieland, with the group featuring a number of up-and-coming actors including Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Scott Evans.
With Barbie having dominated the summer box office, Gerwig has opened up to Variety about which member of the movie's cast could be a perfect fit to lead a new era of the James Bond franchise. While Gosling's Beach Ken complex naivety and musical numbers charmed audiences, Gerwig was left impressed by Ben-Adir's responses to her direction on set and ability to captivate audiences during a moment in the movie's climax, leaving her eager to see him take on the role of 007.
Furthermore, Ben-Adir already has some experience with espionage stories through his recent filmography, as alongside Barbie, the actor also caught audiences' attention in 2023 in Disney+'s Secret Invasion miniseries.
Ben-Adir and Barbie's incredible cast has left audiences engaged and moved throughout the summer, allowing the movie to become a standout hit amongst 2023's releases. As such, filmgoers are sure to be eager to see where Ben-Adir and others go next, as the actor is set to further impress in 2024's Bob Marley: One Love.
Daniel Craig's James Bond saga is currently available to stream on Prime Video, while Barbie is currently available to rent and purchase on Video on Demand services including Amazon, Apple TV, and the Microsoft Store, with a Max streaming release set for Fall 2023.
