Daily News | Back-to-back sweeps of Big East opponents as Temple tops Georgetown, 78-61
In its home opener, Temple earned its first win of the season with a 78-61 victory over Georgetown on Saturday. Not only was it the Owls’ first win of the season, but it also marked Diane Richardson’s first win as Owls head coach.
“We couldn’t sleep last night because we were pretty excited,” Richardson said. “The pressure was on. We got that fever last night when the guys got that great victory ... I turned to my husband and I said, ‘man, this is big-time basketball.’” Georgetown forward Jada Claude led the game in rebounds with 15, and Nelson alongside sophomore guard Jasha Clinton added six assists, apiece.Once again, Temple struggled to shoot from 3-point range and only shot 43.5% from the field against Georgetown.
