He said higher-profile cases such as the wrongful murder conviction of the late David Milgaard have received a lot of public attention through Innocence Canada, a non-profit group that has helped exonerate 24 people since it was founded in 1993.The new registry casts a wider net and includes those convicted, then later exonerated, in lesser crimes. In some cases, no crime was committed at all, Roach said.
