Up to 500 jobs are currently available fleetwide as casual positions to cover the shoulder season and the busy summer months
B.C. Ferries has a boatload of jobs to fill, and it’s hoping to have plenty of applicants at a job fair Wednesday and Thursday — part of the corporation’s biggest-ever recruitment campaign.
Spokeswoman Deborah Marshall said B.C. Ferries ramped up its summer hirings in the last couple of years. B.C. Ferries grows to over 5,000 employees in the summer, up from about 4,700 during the rest of the year. One of the big challenges is B.C.’s high employment rate, which makes the job market very competitive.
