Watch Avril Lavigne and Miranda Lambert surprise CMAFest with “Sk8er Boi” collab
Lambert introduced the moment by saying she was about to “make more badass happen right now” and calling Lavigne her “new bestie.” The pair did a quick run-through of a verse and chorus of Lambert’s hard-charging early single “Kerosene” before the band quickly switched to the spiky riff from Lavigne’s 2002 smash “Sk8er Boi.” As fan-shot video of the performance shows, there was an audible eruption of excitement when the stadium crowd realized what was happening.
Lambert’s set was a largely up-tempo bunch of songs, the major exception being the opening number, “Bluebird.” It was aggressive from there, with crowd favorites like “Mama’s Broken Heart,” “Gunpowder & Lead,” and “Little Red Wagon” playing up Lambert’s feisty, rock & roll side. Network to improve diversity on Broadway“Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda hopes to increase diversity on Broadway and in theaters across the country with a new initiative announced Thursday. The Representation, Inclusion and Support for Employment Theater Network – or R.I.S.E. Network, for short – is launching a directory of diverse offstage theater professionals to make it easier for them to get hired for jobs ranging from stagehands to producers and general managers. According to a 2021 report from the Asian American Performers Action Coalition, which studied Broadway shows in the 2018-2019 season, 100% of general managers and 94% of the producers were white. White actors were cast in 80% of the lead roles in musicals and 90% of the lead roles in plays.
