|CLEVELAND, Ohio – Rocky River authorities are investigating how a woman’s car caught fire and engulfed a garage in flames Friday.
Police and firefighters responded to a house on Beachcliff Boulevard at about 3:20 p.m. The resident said she parked in the garage after shopping and saw a puff of smoke from under the hood, police said. As she was unloading the 2018 Chevy Traverse, she heard a pop and saw sparks, then the vehicle was on fire. Attempts to put the fire out with an extinguisher were unsuccessful.
“She left the house as the car became fully engulfed in flames, which eventually spread to the house,” police said in a report. Fire departments from Westlake, Lakewood and Bay Village assisted Rocky River in extinguishing the fire.
