Eight puppies were discovered in a trash bag during a heat wave in Austin, Texas, animal rescue officials said. Seven of the puppies are still alive and recovering.
Owner Teri captured the moment her Australian Shepherd Chewie woke up from a nap with a startled jump while kayaking in the Midi-Pyrenees.The puppies, who were only two or three days old, were all in critical condition on Thursday."We received a call that a Good Samaritan had brought in a litter of puppies that were found in a garbage bag right next to a dumpster," President and CEO of Austin Pets Alive! Ellen Jefferson told FOX 7 Austin.
The puppies, who were only two or three days old, were all in critical condition when they were discovered on Thursday. "I know they would have died if they had been out there in the storm the other night, or if they had been there, you know, longer than the day. So my guess is that they were probably placed by the trash that morning," Jefferson said, adding that the suspect's actions were unacceptable.
"We know that our community really cares, and it's not just on the animal shelter to solve problems like this," Jefferson said."We can connect the dots and help somebody who wants to help these little babies survive and go on to live wonderful lives. That's a win-win.""They're so cute. I'm just really hoping to bring them home and give them some love and some warmth and help them to grow up," Mozafarian said.
