SYDNEY, N.S. – The Atlantic University Sports men’s and women’s soccer championships opened at Ness Timmons Field on Thursday with four quarter-final games on the schedule.

After extra time solved nothing, the game went to penalty kicks with Abby Evans scoring the game-winner in the seventh round.Memorial will face the No. 1 seed St. Francis Xavier X-Women in the semifinal at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Colin Connors powered the offence for the Newfoundland and Labrador squad, scoring three times to complete the hat trick. Harry Carter also added a goal for the Sea-Hawks.Memorial’s Louis-Charles Vaillancourt made five saves. Saint Mary’s Ryan Davis stopped eight of 12 shots.
