Former NHL player Adam Johnson is dead after his neck was cut by a skate in an on-ice collision during a game in Sheffield, England. The accident has some asking if neck guards should be mandatory.
ADAM COLE Auburn’s offense solved its identity crisis for at least a week against Mississippi State, and with that came a wonder of individual results.
For all the individual success of a put-together offense, what also stuck out was Auburn’s ability to control the pace for much of Saturday’s win. Auburn grabbed a three-score lead with tempo and aggression in the first half before taking the air out of the ball with varying success after halftime. It recorded both its quickest and slowest scoring drives against Power Five competition this season, and Hugh Freeze felt the former was one of the most crucial junctures of the game.
“That was one of our better complementary football series of the year,” Freeze said. “And I thought that gave us a lot of momentum and certainly it was good to see us execute that well offensively in a two-minute situation.” “Some of it was them,” Freeze said. “They really made an adjustment at halftime of how they were playing their gut-cross and … they were reading out of it with their ‘backers, and it made it hard to run the ball. And, of course, you’re trying to milk the clock a little bit when you’re up two or three scores.”
