Sept. 9 incident resulted in the death of a 34-year-old Sudbury man
At around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, Greater Sudbury Police said the group was riding on a trail north of Cote Boulevard in Hanmer when one of the riders became separated from the group.
Other members of the party began searching for the missing rider. The search continued for three hours until 8:30 p.m. when members of the group located the missing rider. The 34-year-old was deceased. “Based on the initial investigation, it is believed that the driver and lone occupant, a 34-year-old man from Greater Sudbury, failed to negotiate a turn on the trail and went over a steep embankment,” GSPS said. “Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.”
The family has asked that the man’s name not be released to the public. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
