As part of 'Trades Days of Caring,' local seniors can apply to have students help with household repairs such as caulking windows, weather stripping and outdoor maintenance
Seniors living in the Sault Ste. Marie area can now apply for next month’s Trades Day of Caring, a partnership between the United Way and Sault College.
Students can also assist with outdoor upkeep like raking and leaf collection, closure of exterior faucets, and properly storing hoses for the winter season. “We are anticipating over 30 students participating this year, which will allow us to visit more homes and help more seniors as we head into the fall and winter season,” said Marc Pilon, a professor and coordinator of civil engineering and construction at Sault College.
“Trades Day of Caring exemplifies the synergy between education and compassion,” added the executive director of United Way Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District, Lori Huston.
