Los Atléticos de Oakland creen en el liderazgo de Mark Kotsay a pesar de los retos y cambios y eligieron la opción de contrato del mánager para la temporada 2025.
El club anunció la decisión sobre el futuro de Kotsay el martes tras una temporada de 50-112 después de el año anterior tuvo marca de 60-102 en su primera campaña al frente. Kotsay, quien jugó como jardinero en las Grandes Ligas y cumple 48 años el próximo mes, firmó un acuerdo de tres años hasta el 2024 con una opción del equipo para el 2025.
“El liderazgo de Mark, su carácter e integridad han sido un sello de su periodo con los Atléticos, primero como jugador y entrenador, y por los últimos dos años como mánager”, indicó el gerente general David Frost en un comunicado. “Fue obvio elegir su opción para el club y esperamos que siga liderando a los Atléticos en el campo hasta el 2025 y posiblemente más allá”.
