Chief Erika Shields stepped down and a police officer was terminated following the shooting of Rayshard Brooks, who later died
An Atlanta police officer who was involved in the fatal shooting of a black man was terminated, hours after the city’s police chief resigned.
Rayshard Brooks, 27 years old, of Atlanta, was shot outside a Wendy’s restaurant Friday night and died soon after. Videos of parts of his struggle with police and its aftermath, widely shared on social media, sparked anger in the city, amid the continuing national outcry over the police killing of George Floyd last month.
