Athletics get some welcome offensive support for pitching staff in victory over Minnesota.
OAKLAND — The Athletics got enough offense from some slumping hitters Tuesday night to support their pitching staff and beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 before a crowd of 3,460 at the Coliseum.
The hits came off starter and loser Josh Winder , who entered in the fourth inning for starter Dylan Bundy, who was limited to three innings coming off the COVID-19 list. Gary Sanchez and Royce Lewis hit solo home runs for Minnesota off starter James Kaprielian, the fourth for Sanchez and the second for Lewis. The A’s got a two-run home run from Kevin Smith, his second, in the fourth inning.
