The Texas sheriff handling the investigation into the homicide of Athena Strand, a 7-year-old girl, tells Fox News Digital his office is pursuing the death penalty for the suspect.
Athena Strand, 7, was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by 30-year-old FedEx delivery driver Tanner Lynn Horner.
The attorney representing Strand’s mother, Maitlyn Gandy, said during a press conference earlier this afternoon that he is"not at all surprised" Akin is seeking that kind of punishment for Horner. "That is what this community demands. When you have the loss of a young child, of innocence, this community is not going to accept anything less than that," Benson Varghese said."I wholeheartedly agree with the decision that is being made and I’m sure the district attorney was involved with that.
