The outfielder has not played for the Astros this season while going through a lengthy...
after inflammation occurred in his surgically repaired right shoulder, calling the setback “very frustrating.”
“As a competitor, you want to be out there with your team,” Brantley said on Sunday before the Astros played the White Sox. “I love these guys. I love this organization. No one's more disappointed than myself. But at the same time, I'll continue to put in the work, keep my head down and be the best teammate I can.”
Instead, Brantley said his shoulder was not recovering like he’d hoped and the Astros sent him to Dallas to consult with the doctors who had performed his surgery. There, he received an MRI that revealed the inflammation. “I was trying to push through a few things,” Bratnley said. “I mean, that's what we do, right. But at the same time, it just got to the point where I just couldn't anymore. I understand there’s gonna be good and bad, and everybody's probably working through something. This is baseball. I understand that as well. But I had to be healthier than I was to compete at this level.
