Jose Altuve said there was no timetable for his return from a fractured right thumb.

SEATTLE — For the third time in four days, Astros second baseman Jose Altuve got in pregame infield work.

Hours before Friday’s game against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park, Altuve took ground balls at second base and also worked on turning double-play relays at the bag. “I’m feeling good and obviously, taking it really seriously and trying to get healthy soon and come back from there,” Altuve said. “The most important thing is I’m feeling really good.”

Altuve said there was no timetable for his return from a fractured right thumb suffered when he was hit by a pitch while playing for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. He had surgery March 22.“They have a schedule but they don’t quite let me know ahead of time,” he said. “It’s kind of like the day before, they tell me what to do and I just follow what they tell me. I’m just putting in 100-percent effort to get back on the field as soon as I can.
