Designated hitter and part-time left fielder Yordan Alvarez also exited the game with an undisclosed injury after his at-bat in the seventh inning. Baker said only that Alvarez hurt himself on a swing. The Astros said neither Alvarez nor Díaz were available for interviews postgame. The Astros were already surviving with minimal position player depth. The organization’s 40-man roster currently contains one healthy and major-league eligible position player — outfielder Dillon Thomas, claimed off waivers from the Angels earlier this week.
