Rylan Bannon appeared in five major league games last season for the Baltimore Orioles...
The Astros claimed infielder Rylan Bannon off waivers from the Chicago Cubs on Friday and added him to their 40-man roster, which now stands at 37.
Bannon appeared in five major league games last season for the Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves. The Cubs claimed him off waivers from the Braves last month. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Bannon in the eighth round of the 2017 draft. A year later, they packaged him with four other prospects to acquire Manny Machado from Baltimore.
Bannon has a .358 on-base percentage and .805 OPS in four minor league seasons. The 26-year-old plays primarily second base and third base and, for the Astros, should be upper-level organizational infield depth.
