to sign a letter addressed to social media CEOs Mark Zuckerberg , Neal Mohan , Shou Zi Chew , and Linda Yaccarino & Elon Musk . “True allies do not profit from anti-LGBTQ hate,” the letter begins. It continues: “There has been a massive systemic failure to prohibit hate, harassment, and malicious anti-LGBTQ disinformation on your platforms and itbe addressed. The very content you profit from is in violation of your own terms of service, which assert that you do not allow hate speech.”
An overview of the letter was posted on Instagram. "Directing hate toward queer and trans public figures online is a vehicle to promote hate and violence against all LGBTQ people. This translates to real-world harm," reads the caption. The public letter calls on the social media CEOs to meet with community leaders and address content that spread malicious lies about trans youth, dehumanizing attacks on transgender figures, anti-trans hate speech, and accounts that perpetrate anti-LGBTQ hate and disinformation.
