The eagles were spotted flying around the site of their former nest on Wednesday, according to people who visited the location.
“What’s important to remember here is the eagles’ resiliency,” said Sam Kieschnick, a biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife.A row of orange-and-white barriers sit along Buckner Boulevard.
Officials had requested that people not use the field adjacent to the group of cottonwood trees where the nest was situated. By 2006, following decades of laws to protect the species, the federal fish and wildlife service estimated that nearly 9,800 nesting pairs of bald eagles existed in the United States.A bald eagle flies around close to its former nest at White Rock Lake on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, in Dallas, TX. The nest, as well as the eggs that fell, are still federally protected property and are now in the custody of the Texas Game Wardens.
