Watch the remastered music video for Arcade Fire's (arcadefire) 'Neighborhood 1 (Tunnels)' as part of the 15th anniversary of their debut album 'Funeral':
with a bevy of archived gems including live footage, unreleased pictures and a remastered video of their single “.” Now, as a continuation of the album’s anniversary, the group has released another remastered music video for its grandiose opening track, “Neighborhood #1 .”
The newest version of the single shows the group in all their mid-’00s glory with a young, vest-clad Win Butler at the helm. Just like its preceding video, the visual component of “Neighborhood #1 ” was directed by Josh Deu—a one-time member of the band. In the bizarre fun-house setting of the video, Arcade Fire amble around while black animation consumes them and tosses each individual member into a cartoonish world.
Perhaps the best service done by the video’s remastering is the wonderful detail put into these animated scenes: Butler’s parents trapped on a stormy seascape, drummer Régine Chassagne using an umbrella to fly and keyboardist Richard Reed Parry being chased by demonic versions of himself. Each scene is colored with wonderful weirdness.
