Rep. AOC to POTUS: Open abortion clinics on federal lands 'right now' after Dobbs decision
At a protest in Union Square on Friday evening, the congresswoman urged the White House to open abortion clinics on federal grounds to ensure access with the nationwide right to an abortion overturned after nearly 50 years.“There are also actions at President Biden’s disposal that he can mobilize,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I’ll start with the babiest of the babiest of baby steps: Open abortion clinics on federal lands in red states right now.

Elizabeth Warren also posed the idea during a news conference earlier in the day, just hours after the Supreme Court ruling Friday in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case. “[Biden should] explore just how much we can start using federal lands as a way to protect people who need access to abortions in all the states that either have banned abortions or are clearly on the threshold of doing so,” Warren told reporters. “There is much we can do at the federal level administratively, under current law. We need to do it.”
Several liberal lawmakers, including Ocasio-Cortez, appeared at the Supreme Court on Friday. Some renewed calls to expand the court, pejoratively called"packing the court" by critics, and codify abortion rights.
