A heat advisory goes into effect at noon and will remain in effect through midnight on Thursday as temperatures will hit 90, potentially breaking a new daily record.

Thursday would also be the 12th time we’ve hit 90 degrees or higher in Seattle, tying the record set back in 2015. This is the greatest number of days at 90 or higher since records began.

The two-day heat wave comes to an end this weekend and we’ll resume normal summer temperatures averaging mid-to-high 70s by Friday and even drop into the lower 70s with a slight rain chance by Saturday. Heading east nestled in the northern Cascades, an upper-level low continues to disrupt the atmosphere and continues to bring thunderstorms through Wednesday.

The biggest threat is the potential for new fire development/exacerbating ongoing fires in surrounding areas.
