Musical duo Angel + Dren talk about growing up in the Bronx, creating their juice shop Mad Juicy in Harlem, and more.
“I feel lucky to be from the Bronx,” says Angel Coleman. “I grew up with culture—the fashion, the way people talk, the food—nothing basic about it. The Bronx is real and so full of expression. I am that too.” Angel and her twin sister, Dren, make up the musical duo
. After graduating from college, the pair began DJing after their day jobs, taking on gigs from Coachella to Art Basel. Eventually, they decided to pursue music full time, releasing their own dreamy debut album,“It’s about getting where you want to be in life and about being present on that journey,” Angel says. “It’s about blocking out all the noise and taking your time to get what you want. The video is futuristic and bright because the song is about progress and optimism.
