Dru Worker, a former champion wrestler at Mt. Carmel High School and wrestling coach at Andrew High School, died Tuesday after an explosion at the Seneca Petroleum Co. Refinery in Lemont. He was 25.

Kading not only coached Worker in high school. The two met at the Overtime School of Wrestling in Naperville when Worker was in third grade.“People gravitated to Dru,” he said. “He had this warming personality, and you were drawn to the kid. Did I think he would be a coach? Yeah. I did. He had the ability to reach people that a lot of times couldn’t be reached.”“He had the ability to turn it on as a competitor,” Kanding said. “When the lights came on, Dru was at his best.
“Dru worked to grow out T-Bolts on and off the mats,” she said in an email. “He helped instill confidence and sportsmanship in our T-Bolts.”“He was a positive force of energy, mentor and beloved member of the community,” Durbin’s post said. “He will be greatly missed.”
