Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins has not played since Feb. 13 while tending to a family matter.
DENVER — The Warriors are reportedly on the brink of getting a vital piece of last year’s title run back, as the team seeks a jolt to kickstart a hopeful playoff run.
Andrew Wiggins, who has been away from the team for nearly seven weeks, is expected to rejoin the Warriors early this week, league sources confirmed. ESPN initially reported Monday morning on Wiggins’ pending return. Wiggins has missed the last 22 games to tend to an undisclosed family matter. Wiggins had recently returned to the Bay Area after spending most of this time away. He has been conditioning on his own, coach Steve Kerr recently said, but the team will assess his game readiness once he returns to Chase Center, which could be as soon as Monday.
It is unclear whether Wiggins would play in any of the Warriors’ three remaining regular-season games. They play at home Tuesday against the Thunder, then visit Sacramento on Friday night before closing the season Sunday in Portland.
