Brad Kerfoot and Joel Michaud posted an 11\u002Dunder 61 for the first round lead in the Star Motors Open Division of the Ottawa Sun Scramble.
“Brad was on fire … he made about 200 feet of putts,” said his playing partner, Joel Michaud, after the pair posted a sizzling 11-under 61 for the first-round lead in the Star Motors Open Division at Highlands Golf Club. “That was pretty much the key to our round. I put it in play, we got it on the green, and he just basically made everything he looked at.”Barking at the heels of Michaud and Kerfoot, who won the title in 2021, are 2022 champs Jesse Riopelle and Jaegar Prot.
Michaud, 45, admitted he doesn’t get out a lot these days and was surprised to see at the end of the day that they scored as low as they did. Rounding out the field of 10 competing for all the marbles on Sunday at The Marshes are all seven five groups that came in at 7-under.Article content In the TMSI Senior Open, Dale Watts and Phil Patterson grabbed the first-round lead by putting together back-to-back nines of 31 for a 10-under 62.Article content
One off the pace is Rick Taylor and Kevin Gamble, while Greg Smyth/Steve Peters and Dave Hodgson/Darcy Jenkins are two back at 3-under. “I was saying to some of the guys today, when we play in the men’s league it’s a little different, it’s a little more social,” said Cox. “I mean, this is still social for sure, but you put a little bit more effort into what you’re doing, and taking stock on what your shots are going to be.Roger that.
