The Met Office has issued heavy snow warnings for parts of the UK as an Arctic blast looks set to bring disruption until Friday.
Kinbrace, in Scotland, dropped to -15.2°C on Tuesday night before slipping further to -15.4°C on Wednesday morning, the Met Office said.The Met Office’s amber warning covers from the south of the Peak District up to the North Pennines from Thursday afternoon to midday Friday. Met Office chief meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said it would be another “very cold night”, with Scotland possibly reaching -15°C again on Wednesday night.for four-and-a-half hours while it worked to clear snowfall. The airport started operating at 10.30am but five flights were diverted.
The cold temperatures are expected to continue around the UK, with forecasters predicting sub-zero temperatures at night until at least Friday.
