The blockbuster rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is OFF
Promoters released a statement on Tuesday confirming the Dublin clash set for May 20 would no longer be going ahead.A statement from Matchroom Boxing read: “Due to an injury sustained by Amanda Serrano, Matchroom Boxing and Most Valuable Promotions regret to announce that the Taylor-Serrano II bout on May 20 in Dublin will not go ahead as planned.
“The teams are in discussions about finding a revised date for the bout. Further details will follow in due course.” after 10 rounds of back-and-forth with the seven-weight world champion, Serrano.It was hoped that a rematch would take place at Croke Park in front of 80,000+ people but Taylor’s promoter, Hearn ruled it out due to it costing three times more than Wembley. was keen to see his compatriot fight at Croke Park and was willing sponsor Taylor-Serrano 2 to the tune of €500,000.
