Shatley has been the team's most durable and game-ready plug-and-play guy since he bucked the odds and made the team in 2014 as an undrafted free agent.
"Hate to see [Bartch] get hurt ... best friends, a great guy who was playing great," Shatley said."I'm just trying to do whatever I can to help the team win and hopefully get this thing rolling."
Shatley made the opening-day roster as a rookie and was then listed as inactive for the rest of the season. He played 13 games, mostly on special teams, in 2015, then began showing his versatility in 2016 when he started two games at center and two at left guard, getting snaps in all 16 games. While Shatley acquitted himself well in training camp and preseason games, the Jags coaching staff went withIt's been hard to break up the young duo. Prior to Bartch going down against the Texans, Shatley had only one offensive snap this season and was playing sparingly on special teams, with only 18 snaps before last Sunday.
"Those are two of my favorite teammates, honestly," Lawrence said."Obviously, I hate that for Bartch. I hate it for our team. He was playing great. Made a lot of strides ... so I hate that his season got cut short. But I know what Tyler brings to the table, a guy that’s always ready, prepares himself every week it’s like he’s a starter."
