last month was formally charged with 305 criminal counts, including first-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and crimes of bias, Colorado prosecutors said in court Tuesday. Anderson Lee Aldrich, who according to court documents identifies as nonbinary and uses the pronouns “they” and “them,” is accused of opening fire inside Club Q just before midnight on Nov. 19. Prosecutors said during Mx. Aldrich’s second court appearance that the charges could be amended as more victims are identified.

Mx. Aldrich, who didn’t speak during Tuesday’s hearing, was arrested at Club Q shortly after the shooting after being subdued and beaten by club goers who intervened to stop the shooting. During a brief remoteMx. Aldrich sat slumped in a chair inside the jailhouse, their face visibly bruised, only briefly answering a judge’s questions about their name and whether they understood their rights.

Mx. Aldrich hasn’t entered a plea in the case and their public defenders have previously declined to comment on the case.Updates to follow as news develops.
