There's some compelling evidence suggesting Ahsoka's Grand Admiral Thrawn may be connected to Star Wars' oldest villains in the established canon.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT There's a growing theory that Ahsoka's Grand Admiral Thrawn will be connected to some of Star Wars' oldest villains. Following his defeat and disappearance into the Unknown Regions as seen in the series finale of Star Wars Rebels, Thrawn is finally returning to the galaxy in the aftermath of the original trilogy with the destruction of Palpatine's Empire.

The Rakatan Empire grew to become the dominant power in the galaxy, spanning over 500 worlds for countless generations. However, their reliance on Force-users proved to be their undoing. A massive plague decimated their population while also severing their connection to the Force. As such, a surge of desperate civil wars resulted in the Infinite Empire destroying itself. The surviving Rakata fled back to their homeworld Lehon in the Unknown Regions before fading from galactic history altogether.

Thanks to their re-canonization in Andor, new possibilities have opened up regarding the Rakata and their future use in the Star Wars galaxy. This includes having a potential connection with Grand Admiral Thrawn during his time away in the Unknown Regions. It's possible that the Rakata's homeworld of Lehon might have become a refuge for Thrawn while also providing him with an ancient power he'll bring to the galaxy with his upcoming return in Ahsoka.
