Alito said his critics are trying to change the decision of the Supreme Court.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito declined to recuse himself from cases involving former President Donald Trump and the Capitol riot after calls to do so amounted earlier this month, claiming that 'reasonable' people aren't questioning his ability to remain impartial.
Since individual justices decide whether to recuse themselves from a case, Alito responded directly to the senators in a letter dated May 29 and told them that he refused to do as they asked because the incidents they cited did 'not meet the conditions for recusal.
