Dancers can now compete alongside bands and solo acts for up to $1,000 in Alice Cooper's annual talent search for youths throughout metro Phoenix.
Dancers can now compete alongside bands and solo artists ages 12-25 with one grand prize winner chosen from each category.
"It's our big fundraiser of the year and we always have a lot of really big celebrities at that event," Spencer says. There's a Proof is in the Pudding kickoff event on Tuesday, Sept. 20, with Brian Head Welch, the guitarist for Korn. The competition will take place over eight nights at four venues, starting at the Solid Rock Teen Center on the corner of Thunderbird Road and 32nd Street in Phoenix.
"The mission of our center is to inspire youth and make an everlasting difference in the lives of teenagers," Spencer says. "There's many people looking for something positive to do and they might not be aware of our teen center," Spencer says."And if they're involved in this music competition, a lot of them just segue into being involved in our teen centers on a regular basis.""A lot of our teen center youth practice all year, form a band at the Teen Center and they get a chance to sometimes perform for the first time at this music competition," Spencer says.
