On Wednesday, Carmack-Altwies’ spokesperson positioned the district attorney’s exit as an effort to spend more time running her office, including prosecuting drunken drivers and securing convictions of other defendants. “I’ve never seen a situation where a public prosecutor says, ‘We’ve brought this case, but now we’re too busy, and we can’t handle it,’” he said.
