RustThe actor and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who supervised weapons on the New Mexico set at the time of the deadly shooting in October 2021, are both facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, court documents filed by prosecutors Tuesday confirmed.
It remains unclear how live ammunition ended up in the weapon, but court documents allege the rounds in the weapon do not match those provided to the set by a prop company. Five “suspected live rounds” were seized from the set, the documents reveal. The actor and the armourer failed to follow “standard safety protocol” of inspecting the firearm to check for live rounds, the documents allege, adding: “Had Mr Baldwin performed the required safety checks with the armourer, this tragedy had not have occurred.”
Mr Baldwin’s attorney Luke Nikas declined comment Tuesday and referred to his previous statement on the case, in which he called the charges a “terrible miscarriage of justice” that he and his client would fight and win.
