“By supporting Women Building Futures, Alberta is helping women gain job-ready skills to build rewarding careers in the skilled trades while ensuring Alberta’s prosperity,” said Madu. Status of women parliamentary secretary Tanya Fir noted that more women are joining the skilled trades every year, with the government estimating that about 5,700 women apprentices were registered in the province last year — a 20 per cent increase from 2021.Article contentCarol Moen, president and CEO of Women Building Futures, said in the release the stable funding gives the organization the flexibility to focus on removing barriers to successful careers.
The provincial government has been providing funding since 2013 and, since 1998, more than 2,700 women have graduated from Women Building Futures training programs.
