The budget forecasts inflation in Alberta to decline to an average of 3.3 per cent for 2023/24 after averaging 6.4 per cent over the past year.
According to the province, Alberta’s inflation is tracking lower than the national average because of some of the affordability programs the government implemented, like the fuel tax pause and energy rebates.Article content Indexation of personal income taxes to inflation will be effective for the 2022 tax year. Tax bracket thresholds and credit amounts are increasing by 2.3 per cent for 2022 and an additional six per cent for 2023.Article contentFor seniors in Alberta with a household income under $180,000, the government will continue to provide direct payments of $100 per month until June, through the affordability relief payments program.
Families with a household income under $180,000 are eligible for the affordability relief payments and can apply online if they haven’t already.The funds will offer supplementary health benefits for adopted children. And a $6,000 grant will also be available for families earning less than $180,000 who want to adopt.
