More than 9% of Alabama residents said they are current e-cigarette users in 2021, according toAnother 4.4% of Alabamians said they vape every single day - again placing Alabama third in the nation, behind only Oklahoma and Tennessee.Vaping has increased significantly in Alabama since 2016, the first year for which the CDC has data on the subject. The rise comes as the number of Alabamians - and Americans in general - who smoke cigarettes has dropped.
And even with the decline, Alabama still ranks 10th nationally in current smokers. And about 12.5% of respondents said they smoked every day, which ranked 12th in the nation, per the CDC.[Can’t see the chart?That means the number of current smokers has declined by 7.1 percentage points, while the number of people who smoke every day has declined by 6.1 points.
