As it turns out, The Margaret is a passion project for Stallings, developed with two good friends. The name of her new bar honors Stallings’ mother, Margaret F. Stallings of Cullman, whoThe logo for The Margaret, which features a chandelier, was inspired by a chandelier Stallings inherited from her mom. This cherished piece of decor has a place of honor at The Margaret: front and center above the bar in the main room, easily visible to anyone who walks in the door.
The Margaret will celebrate its first anniversary on Jan. 21, 2023. The bar’s website lauds its “cozy space and friendly atmosphere,” and calls the place “Birmingham’s Fleurty Little Secret.” Pam Stallings, center, co-owner of The Nick, opened a new bar in downtown Birmingham with partners Jess Welling, left, and Theresa Holloway Cottrell. The Margaret, 2113 First Ave. North, is in a space formerly occupied by The Atomic Bar & Lounge.
