AKRON, Ohio — An Akron police officer is facing more than 20 criminal counts after he was accused of secretly recording videos of underage girls.
Mikel Dillon, 32, is charged with 21 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor. Dillon was arrested Wednesday by Canton police and is being held in jail on a $2.1 million bond after appearing Thursday in Canton Municipal Court, according to court records. Akron police issued a statement Thursday saying Dillon has been placed on paid administrative leave. He has been with the department for 15 months.
“I am beyond shocked by these charges against one of our employees,” Akron Police Chief Steve Mylett said in a statement. “This alleged behavior is disgusting. Any person found to have engaged in this kind of behavior should be held accountable to the extent the law allows. I am confident the legal process will reveal the truth, either way, and justice will be served.”, police records show Dillon “did create obscene material when he filmed Jane Doe, who is a minor, in a state of nudity.
