The AK Party has made crucial gains in Sirnak, Agri and Bitlis where the PKK-linked People’s Democratic Party has won previous local elections, initial results have shown. Mehmet Yarka, the AK Party candidate for the Sirnak province, which is located in Turkey's predominantly Kurdish-populated southeastern region.
