Aidan O'Connell has 'earned the right' to take the first snap for the Raiders in his quarterback battle with Gardner Minshew, according to coach Antonio Pierce.

Paul Gutierrez joined NFL Nation in 2013 and serves as its Las Vegas Raiders reporter. He has a multi-platform role - writing on ESPN.com, television appearances on NFL Live and SportsCenter, and podcast and radio appearances. Before coming to ESPN, Gutierrez spent three years at CSN Bay Area as a multi-platform reporter, covering the Raiders and Oakland Athletics as well as anchoring the SportsNet Central cable news show.

"Then you bring Gardner in here ... talk about personality. ... It's great. It's great for our building. It's great for our quarterback room. And if you got competition in the quarterback room, what does every other room look at?"By the time the Raiders' draft spot came, at No. 13, six quarterbacks had been drafted.

"What I see is guys getting out there early," Pierce said."Aidan is already kind of taking the bull by the horn and he's leading the way, and Minshew's right there doing it as well. Two guys that played against each other last year, they went neck to neck. But I'm really excited to see what happens. I think it's going to be a process. We're going to stick to the process.
