Attorney General Merrick Garland was expected to appoint a special counsel Friday who would determine whether former President Donald Trump would face federal charges in connection with a series of investigations — including the probe into whether he unlawfully kept classified information at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida
The special counsel, whose identity was not immediately clear, would be the third to examine legal issues surrounding Trump in the past five years
