In a statement, Bibb said he fears “we likely will continue to see incidents like this occur unless change is made at the Statehouse.”
Bibb lambasted Republicans in Columbus for pushing weak gun laws.
Bibb said his administration “has been doing everything we possibly can to address crime in the city through a holistic all-of-government approach that includes investing in technology, our police officers and through numerous violence prevention and intervention efforts to address the root causes of crime.”
“I don’t give a frick if we have to call in the 82nd Airborne,” Polensek said in an interview with cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer on Sunday night. “The administration has to acknowledge that we have a major problem. We have violent predators controlling our streets, and we don’t have a game plan to deal with it. We need a coordinated effort to go into our neighborhoods and get these people off our streets.
“The shortage here is no different than the same shortage being felt by every law enforcement agency nationwide,” a city spokesman said Friday.
