The Anchorage Fire Department is responding this morning to a gas meter fire in downtown Anchorage between Bernie’s Bungalow and a parking garage.

The Anchorage Fire Department was responding Tuesday morning to a gas meter fire in downtown Anchorage between Bernie’s Bungalow Lounge and a parking garage. The fire was reported just before 9:50 a.m., according to Assistant Chief Alex Boyd. Crews About a dozen fire department units were on scene as of 10:15 a.m. The lounge is located on D Street between 6th and 7th avenues.

The flames were “to the rear of the building, crews are keeping the fire out of the building” Boyd said in a message. Firefighters were working to control the flames about 30 minutes after the initial report, along with Enstar crews, he said.
