But, the more we talk about it, the less people feel alone—a point actress Gabrielle Ruiz emphasized late last week.star announced in an Instagram post on Friday that she had suffered a miscarriage earlier in the month on October 15, which also happens to be Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.
“This morning at 3:20am, I had a miscarriage. When our OB-GYN gave us the news, I went through all the emotions; shocked, numb, confused, practical, overwhelmed, scared, sad, sarcastic, relieved, frustrated, even the thought, ‘Oh, this couldn’t be happening to US,’” Ruiz wrote in the post, adding, “I feel it is my duty to continue the transparency in sharing the secret story-telling of miscarriages. Because no one really talks about it as much as we should.
Sadly, anywhere from 10 to 25 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage. While it will take time to heal, discussing the experience may help offer some hope, both to you and to others. Also, remember that your partner is also likely experiencing similar feelings of grief and is there to help—a point Ruiz emphasized in her post. She thanked her husband, Philip Pisanchyn, and wrote, “Every moment, Philip was there. Philip is a great husband, but he’s [an] even greater life-partner.
Her message is one that is resonating with her followers, as one woman commented, “I am so sorry for your loss. I have been through this too, and it’s so generous, brave, and helpful of you to share your story in this way. I know reading this would have given me so much comfort. I wish you peace and healing.” Another follower wrote, “You are incredibly strong. Thank you for sharing this.
