THUNDER BAY – The accidental pressing of a panic alarm at a local north-side high school resulted in a quick police response.
City police say they were called to Ecole Secondaire Catholique De La Verendrye high school on Tuesday about noon, with no context, except verbal confirmation that it was not a drill. Multiple units responded and a lock-down and hold-and-secure was put in place before police cleared out the entire school as a precaution.
The school on Tuesday posted a message to its Facebook page, asking the public not to come to the school, adding there were few details available at the time.
